Usain Bolt reveals he devoured 1,000 Chicken McNuggets during the 2008 Beijing Olympics !

Diets can be of paramount importance to a sportsman – Novak Djokovic’s grand slam success is based on a strict gluten free one, WBO welterweight champion Tim Bradley defeated Manny Pacquiao on a trusted vegan one, and Usain Bolt at the 2008 Beijing Olympics…he powered to three gold medals fuelled by Chicken McNuggets, a total he now estimates to have reached 1,000 during his 10 days in the Chinese capital.

The Jamaican revealed in his soon-to-be released autobiography, Faster than Lightning, his passion started with a box of 20, yes 20, of the golden chicken treats, but with his training going into overdrive, he soon needed far more, up to 100 a day, and even turned to an apple pie to take the edge off.

“At first I ate a box of 20 for lunch, then another for dinner,” he wrote. “The next day I had two boxes for breakfast, one for lunch and then another couple in the evening. I even grabbed some fries and an apple pie to go with it.”

I find that disgusting!

Have to wonder if that will affect his health adversely in the future.
Like Tom Hanks and his weight loss and gain for film roles.

I understand that Usain Bolt
used it all up in energy but still.

Well, I can remember the headlines when the story broke those years ago. How Bolt ate the Chicken Nuggets prior to racing, and then of course much to everyone's delight went on to win.He is a great character and people all around the world love to watch him win.

I haven't seen details of what he currently eats but surely his nutritionists/team around him would advise him differently?

Mind you sometimes they don't!! I know one thing, and that is - I would choose fresh cooked chicken to eat rather than nuggets/burgers. My choice, others may disagree........

All the best Jan

Yes he is a welll-loved character. I know he would have burnt off all he 'nasties" at the time it just seemed a bit extreme even in the circumstances. I expect the nuggets were more easily available than healthier options which seems a shame. People often pay a high price late for great success.

It is a well-known fact that horses who run fed on oats, less known fact, that high in carbohydrates food makes them sick and cause the horse equivalent of a metabolic syndrome.
What a very fit very young man does, may have very little correlation with being healthy for a less young person.

I agree.

When you are young and fit you can get away with all sorts of self abuse, but as you get older, it's pay back time.
