The Italians have the right idea, I don't think you see that many (if any) fast food restaurants. Yes they may eat pasta but they also enjoy some great vegetables.

Wow! That's pretty gross considering all these are big franchises(apart from chicken cottage that I haven't heard of)

I'm glad I ditched the junk food as it looks like it wasn't just the carbs that were a threat to my health.

I hold no animosity toward fast food places. Well,we all do not live in a perfectly clean environment and periodic articles about places infested with germs are made just to make head-lines.

My son is grown-up now, but we used to go to McDonalds and Burger King regularly with him because in such places he could play in a well equipped playing area during any weather. He grew-up slim and without a single cavity because I didn't feed him junk at home and didn't keep "sweet treats" in my pantry. When I travel, eating a burger without a ban is the choice #1 for me. I don't visit pizza places not because of germs,, but because they don't sell food I eat.

When my daughter was young McDonalds was an occasional treat for kids and many held Birthday parties there because it was something different for them.

These days many eat at McDonalds more often than at home and have the menu off pat at a very tender age. Often it shows. Maybe all these chains are so busy now that hygiene has deteriorated.

Well as others have said here, I too used to take my children to McDonalds. They used to love the soft play areas and then would sit and 'wolf down' the burger and chips. We would all return home feeling happy and relaxed. I never experienced any bad times BUT of course these days with hind sight would I still go to them?

Well no we (being Eddie and I) don't but the grandchildren still go occasionally especially to parties. Being realistic I could say well once in a while is ok ...but is it ?

I would go to McDonalds again , but most probably it would be Burger King because they make better burgers. There is always a possibility of better choices in a burger place then a standard meal, may be it is even possible to ask people in a pizza place to bake together meats and cheeses without any crust, I never tried to ask. My son told me that bunless double burgers are a hit with his friends. He is not a LCarber like I am, but he doesn't eat food containing gluten and not interested much in sweet foods and drinks.
I am not too much concerned about some hygiene slips registered in fast food places. Good immunity is the best defense against imperfect environment, there is always some dirt out there. I grew-up in a much worse environment in a hygiene regard, I remember it was a norm to get some food poisoning couple times a year. Usually it was dairy products to blame, especially sourcream which was sold by weight from one big barrel.
