Why is my Doctor trying to kill me !

Being confirmed a diabetic is a day you will probably remember for the rest of your life. Most people go through nearly every emotion, almost everyone is frightened. Fear of complications, fear of the unknown. There is no shortage of information regarding diabetic complications and the complications are very real. Next you hear diabetes is a chronic disease, then you learn chronic means there is no cure. Maybe your Doctor has told you it’s always progressive. At this stage you are very worried, you're confused and shocked. Maybe you're thinking why me, what have I done to deserve this. Any of this sound familiar ?

If you are on the ball, and are not at this stage too frightened to learn more, you have a Google around. If you are lucky you find a forum like diabetes.co.uk. Or dare I say this blog. You find people that are not full of doom and gloom. They are happy and truly believe diabetes was a life sentence not a death sentence. One thing stands out by a mile, these people are doing the very opposite to what your Doctor told you to do. They have not cut back on fat, they are actually eating more, but good fats, the fats man evolved from and has survived on for millions of years. They have not based their meals on starchy carbs, these people have reduced them drastically, sometimes to around thirty grams per day.

These people have got to a safe weight, all the symptoms of type two diabetes have disappeared, and they feel better than they have done for many years. Sure a few people are telling you horror stories, and that this way of life will do you no good. But then you realise all the people that are doing well, have gone in the opposite direction from what their healthcare team and the doom merchants advised. You try lowcarbing and it works perfectly for you, you too are saved and you know you will never go back to your old ways.And then it hits you, like a diamond bullet between the eyes, and you ask yourself, why is my Doctor trying to kill me !
